Factors associated with non-treatment or delayed treatment seeking in OCD sufferers: a review of the literature.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a disabling disorder that can be successfully treated. However, a high percentage of sufferers neither ask for nor receive treatment for their symptoms, or they delay seeking treatment. The factors underlying the treatment-seeking behaviour of OCD patients are still not clear. This review includes 12 studies published before April 2014 that analyse the possible variables related to the delayed help-seeking behaviour of OCD patients. Studies showed that individuals who asked for help were more impaired and reported poorer quality of life. Epidemiology, prevention and screening for prostate cancer.

Prostate cancer is a growing social problem. The economical impact is high and is likely to become greater in future years, not only because the number of patients diagnosed with prostatic neoplasias is increasing steadily, but also because of the promotion of screening programmes and the rise in the number of surgical procedures available. It can be concluded that, at the present stage, widespread implementation of screening cannot be recommended. The answer to the question of screening can only be provided by large randomised trials, comparing either screening versus no screening, or early versus delayed treatment in patients in whom early cancer is detected by screening.

AbstractAim of these revised recommendations for the general management of Kawasaki disease is to encourage its prompter recognition and warrant the most appropriate therapy, based on ascertained scientific data, raising awareness of the complications related to misdiagnosis or delayed treatment. A set of 20 synthetic operative statements is herein provided, including the definition of Kawasaki disease, its protean presentations, clinical course and seminal treatment modalities of all disease phases. Hand injuries after high-pressure injection are a medical emergency. These events occur frequently in workers during industrial cleaning, painting, and lubrication, and may have devastating consequences, leading to eventual amputation and poor functional outcomes. The authors have investigated the evolution, management, and outcome. Medical records of occupational medicine units and hand surgery units were collected in order to spot the high-pressure gear accident cases.
